How to Clean Henry Hoover Pipes and Get Rid of Smells

If your Henry Hoover pipes are looking grubby (or starting to smell), it’s easier than you think to get them spotless again. With one simple tool and a bit of patience, you can remove dirt and bad odours from inside the hose — leaving your Henry fresh and clean.

What You’ll Need

  • A long silicone bottle brush (cheap and available on Amazon, also in shops like B&M I have seen them before)

  • Multipurpose Cleaner

  • A microfibre cloth for drying

Step 1: Scrub the Pipe

  1. Spray with multipurpose cleaner

  2. Insert the silicone brush into one end of the pipe.

  3. Push it through until it comes out the other side.

  4. Work it back and forth to scrub the inside walls.

Because the brush is long and flexible, you’ll be able to clean the full length of the pipe quickly. It's the perfect diameter to clean Henry's pipes

Step 2: Rinse Thoroughly

Run clean water through the pipe to wash away loosened dirt and debris. Make sure you rinse until the water runs clear.

Step 3: Dry Completely

⚠️ Important: Do not reattach a wet hose to your Henry. Moisture inside the pipe can cause damage and smells to return.

  • Shake off excess water.

  • Wipe the outside with a microfibre cloth.

  • Leave the hose to air-dry for at least 24 hours before using it again.

Why Cleaning Matters

If your hose smells, your whole vacuum will smell, because the air passes straight through it. A quick clean not only improves hygiene but also makes vacuuming much more pleasant.

Troubleshooting: Struggling to Separate the Pipes?

Some Henry hoses are notoriously difficult to separate. If twisting doesn’t work, don’t force it. I’ve got a full video on a secret hack for separating Henry pipes — check it out here.

Final Thoughts

This simple cleaning method keeps your Henry Hoover in top condition and helps eliminate unwanted odours. It only takes a few minutes (plus drying time) and can make a huge difference.
