Just Bought A Henry Hoover? Here’s How To Set Him Up
Just bought a Henry Hoover and not sure where to start?
This simple beginner’s guide shows you how to assemble Henry, what each tool does, how to use him properly, and how to change the bag when it becomes full.
Perfect for first-time Henry owners.
How To Assemble Your Henry Hoover
Setting up a Henry Hoover only takes a few minutes.
- Start by taking out the hose and screwing it onto Henry’s nose at the front.
- Connect the two straight metal tubes together.
- Attach the bent top tube onto the upper end of the pipe.
- Push-fit the floor tool onto the bottom.
Your Henry is now assembled and ready to use.
💡 Every new Henry already comes with a bag fitted inside the machine.
How To Use The Henry Floor Tool
Henry’s standard floor tool has two cleaning settings:
- Brushes up – for carpets
- Brushes down – for hard floors
You switch between the two using the small foot pedal on top of the floor head.
It is simple, but surprisingly effective once you get used to it.
Henry Hoover Tools Explained
Inside the box you will also find Henry’s smaller tool kit.
- Crevice tool – for corners, skirting boards and car interiors
- Round dusting brush – ideal for shelves and delicate surfaces
- Stair and upholstery tool – designed for sofas, stairs and fabric surfaces
- Brush insert – clips onto the upholstery tool for curtains and delicate cleaning
These smaller tools can fit either:
- onto the end of the metal pipe
- directly onto the hose using the black adaptor
On the back of Henry, you will also find:
- storage slots for two small tools
- a clip for storing the floor head neatly
Using Henry Hoover For The First Time
Before switching Henry on:
- Pull the power cable out from the top of the machine
- Plug Henry into the mains
- Switch him on using the power switch
Once plugged in, the small power light will illuminate to show Henry is receiving power.
Modern Henry models now use a single speed setting.
If the suction feels too strong on carpets, open the air relief valve on the bent pipe by twisting it toward the “–” symbol.
This reduces suction slightly and makes Henry easier to push on thick carpets.
When To Change A Henry Hoover Bag
If Henry starts losing suction or sounds strained, the bag may be full.
- Unclip the two side clips and lift off Henry’s top section.
- Remove the filter.
- Check the bag inside the tub.
- If full, remove the old bag and close the flap to trap the dust inside.
- Fit the new bag with the writing facing upward.
- Push the rubber collar firmly over the plastic inlet until sealed properly.
- Replace the filter and refit Henry’s top section.
Using genuine Henry bags helps maintain airflow, suction and motor protection.
