Fixed the suction on my DC40!

Exactly the part I was looking for to fix the suction on my Dyson Ball DC40 which was purchased back in late 2013.

I noticed recently that the suction on my Dyson had become non existent on both the wand and the brush bar and that the vacuum didn't appear to be picking anything up properly. I tried running the vacuum without the cyclone and bin and found the motor was working properly so followed the pipes to find the vacuum leak, and found it was leaking at the back of the ball from a very worn out change over valve.

Thanks to the YouTube videos both parts were very easy to fit (I had attempted to fix this Dyson previously as the internal cable for the brush bar snapped, but as it was still in warranty at the time, Dyson fixed it for free), so I was confident in swapping the parts myself. The parts were practically identical to the originals, but the replacement change over valve feels a lot stronger than the original.

Having the screwdrivers included was a bonus, but I would like a set available without them if I have to replace the parts again.

I also recommend having a Henry vacuum to hand when swapping it as there was dirt from the carpets present in the pipes to the cyclone.

Will both the changeover hose and the bottom duct hose also fit the Dyson dc50?

No. The DC40 change over will fit a DC50, but the lower hose (red plastics) on a DC50 is unique to that model (just to make life easy). Dyson have been out of stock of the DC50 hose for months now. I'm not even sure if we will ever get any again. The only option is the copied ones, which I dont sell. Hope this helps. Jonny
